What was your path to getting where you are today?

My journey has always been about helping others. Growing up in a close-knit South Asian family, Ayurveda was part of our everyday life—it was just how we lived. I was also surrounded by "aunties" who were doctors, which inspired me to pursue medicine. These early influences shaped my view of health and well-being, leading me to study both Western medicine and Ayurveda. This blend of ancient wisdom and modern insights is something I passionately share in The Longevity Formula, my new book, which offers a practical approach to holistic living for better health and longevity.

Best piece of advice you've ever received?

The best advice I've received is to trust yourself– trust that inner knowing, the voice that guides you. To my younger self, I would repeat the words I live by today: "Do good. Be kind. Choose love." These simple words are a compass for living with intention, grace, and compassion—every single day.

How do you create a work-life balance for yourself?

I think of it as work-life integration rather than balance. Balance implies that everything must be perfectly even, but life is fluid. I try to create space for all aspects of my life that are important to me over the course of a week—whether it's deep work, creative thinking, movement and nourishment, or time with family and friends.

What do you love and/or appreciate about being a woman?

What I love most is the duality of being a woman—because we hold both the Shiva and Shakti energies within us. Shiva represents strength, action, and decisiveness, while Shakti embodies creativity, nurturing, and collaboration. It's this dynamic interplay of energies that makes women so powerful. The challenge often lies in embracing both of these energies, particularly in environments that may value one over the other. But leaning into both gives women immense power—whether it’s creating something new, being of service to others, or finding moments of stillness and reflection.

How would you describe your personal style?

My style is a blend of creativity, classicism, and practicality—with a twist. I love adding something unexpected, usually a pair of my signature sneakers or an interesting piece of Indian jewelry from my mother. It reflects how I approach life: grounded yet open to the surprises and spontaneity.

How do you take care of yourself?

Self-care for me is about honoring my commitments to myself. I have daily routines that nourish my body and soul—from my morning rituals to my evening wind-down practices. I make sure to rest, nourish myself with whole foods, connect with loved ones, and engage in creative play. By creating space for self-care, I’m able to show up fully for myself and others.

What are some of your favorite features about the Maria Pinto collections?

Maria’s designs are versatile, which I really appreciate. The silhouettes are beautifully crafted and the pieces fit seamlessly into my wardrobe, making it effortless to dress for any occasion. And I love how easy it is to travel with and care for Maria’s pieces. I’m always amazed that they still look brand-new, even after a run through the washing machine and hang drying.
